We are a family with a vision of living 'the good life', a bountiful life. For many years our journey has been focused around natural medicine, organic food, permaculture and creating a lifestyle that supports embedding these elements into our daily lives. In 2013, this led us to begin the journey of developing a lifestyle property, where we can live a more simple, slower and sustainable life. We wanted to be part of creating local solutions to global issues. As this journey progressed we came to understand that there are many others interested in how we live. We wanted to share our space, our knowledge and skillset with others. And so, A Bountiful Life was born.
Kelly graduated as a Naturopath and Ayurvedic Practitioner in 2004. She has also studied Theta Healing, BodyTalk and many other systems of health, giving her a broad understanding of, and perspective on, wellness. Since graduating, Kelly has run her own private wellness clinic, tutored for several years at the Naturopathic College of New Zealand, and is mother to our two beautiful daughters, Ella and Sylvia. She is registered with the New Zealand Society of Naturopaths.
Kelly has a special affinity for using food as medicine and the daily use of medicinal herbs. She was known as the 'tea lady' when living in Auckland, as she has a canny knack of being able to craft delicious, yet therapeutic, herbal tea blends for clients. This led to the founding of the organic beverage business Plant Song, our first foray into business together. Kelly is the health practitioner and educator on the team. She is also the gatherer, preparer and fermenter in the family, a perfect match along side her green fingered husband.
Laine inherits his green thumb from his mothers side of the family, and his drive to create things from his fathers line. He has spent many years working in natural medicine education and environmental sustainability. Better still, he grew up on a farm where they grew their own veges. It is from these roots that he has developed a dynamic property, filled with food forests, bio-intensive gardens, bees and beauty (with a little help from the forest clad backdrop to the property). Laine works behind the scenes, as well as being the official tea gentleman during workshops. He is also is the grower of the food and herbs that Kelly harvests, prepares and ferments. That works!
